Pastel on paper
| 30 x 22 inches

I posted last week a pastel of my wife from the time when I first met her, I talked about the door opening on the self- awareness when one sees one’s image on a canvas. When I began painting commissioned portraits, my wife said: “Enough of being the model and a player in your paintings, I want a real portrait.” So I complied; it’s my favorite portrait, the door did not just open, she entered the room. I changed the leg position several times in the painting. With those pants it was a lot of work and at the time I wished my wife had chosen a simpler pair of pants, but now I know she was right.
