Georgica Beach

Pastel on card
| 27 x 35 inches

While walking on Georgica Beach in East Hampton, I spotted a lifeguard who I thought would look good in a painting, so I took a couple of photos and later the lifeguard ended up in a painting. Some years later my wife had an intern working with her who told her that while at college he worked as a lifeguard during his summer vacations. My wife went online and showed him my lifeguard painting.

When he saw it, he was surprised. “Oh wow,” he exclaimed and then added, “That’s me, that’s my hat and that’s my surfboard.” “Where did you work as a lifeguard?” my wife inquired. “Georgica Beach,” was his reply.

What were the odds?
