I was having lunch with my dealer in Palm Beach and he suggested I do something special for him and added: “Make sure it’s different but keeps your edge.” My solution was to do three pastels called ‘Breakfast,’ ‘Lunch’ and ‘Dinner’; they would be geckos eying their prey. He was not happy when he saw my effort. “They’re too Palm Beach,” said he. I thought that was the point and he had missed the irony in my efforts. He rejected them.
