One to one

At a dinner party the other night, my hostess told me that her daughter, using Skype, was continuing her relationship with her boyfriend while they were both at college; one was in California and the other in D.C. She said that they watched one another and talked while they studied in the evening. I remember when my wife was studying in Miami and I was in New York long before the Internet and when long distance telephone calls were expensive. It was a lonely time and I would have loved to have had today’s options.
